 The number of specialty growers is mind boggling. There is a society for every plant!

This is just the first day! The food is not bad either!
Our first post from the UK. The flora here is remi Our first post from the UK. The flora here is reminiscent of California.  Many plants that we cannot grow in Ct are blooming here. In #1, Ceanothus just shines everywhere but used sparingly. 

UK is quite aware of allowing the grass to grow without mowing and pesticides in many areas, increasing insect diversity and thereby bird populations, etc. Many tiny species growing along with the lawns. Unlike our USA mown perfect lawns.

This will be the last post before leaving to visit Gardens and the  Chelsea Flower show in London. I owe a debt of gratitude  to @alitex greenhouse manufacturing,  but especially The owner of Sleepy  Cat Farm to allow me time off in May!

Aesculus , or Horse chestnut is a beautiful tree Aesculus , or Horse chestnut is a beautiful  tree for larger spaces. Not without its problems, our trees drop large inedible seeds , which often self sow.

The pink form is a much smaller cultivar that Greenwich  town uses as a street tree and is lovely and doesn't self sow.

One interesting  fact is that the colorful lines on the flowers are called nectar guides. These guide insects in to seek out nectar and pollen,  and when pollinated,  will change color. The bees know it's not worth visiting  once the color changes.
